Open air gyms in Noida from April

NOIDA: Come April and working out in lush green surroundings with fresh air will be a reality for fitness freaks in Noida. Twenty-seven parks owned and maintained by the Noida Authority will soon boast open gymnasiums with state-of-the-art equipment.The gyms are slated to be operational by April 1 and will be open to public free of cost. “We have framed the estimate for the project and work on it should start by March this year,” said Rama Raman, Chairperson and CEO, Noida Authority. “Installation work will start soon after tenders and work contract are awarded 15 days after that,” he said NOIDA: Come April and working out in lush green surroundings with fresh air will be a reality for fitness freaks in Noida. As per Raman, an open air gym offers people with a truly holistic fitness experience and that’s what we are aiming at he told TOI. “These gyms will be suited not only for reaching the required fitness levels, but can also be used for medical and health treatments. The equipment for these parks will be suitable for all age groups,” Raman said. “The ease of accessibility and free usage may even prove to entice the un-initiated Noida residents into a healthier lifestyle,” he added.

According to officials, the open air or outdoor gyms will have 17 different types of fitness equipment tailored to enable users to do their work-outs out in the open. “Anyone will be able to use them irrespective of differences in income levels or club memberships. It will be free of cost,” said Ombeer Singh, Director Horticulture, Noida.

Singh further said that the equipment will include air walkers, sit-up benches, air swings, stair steppers, leg presses, pull-up chairs, exercise bars, chest presses, bench presses, sit-up stations, cross-walkers, twister, rowing machines, etc.

Asked about how the equipment will be kept safe, Singh said all machines will be tamper and weather-proof and will be clamped onto concrete slabs across rubberized tiles, making it impossible to move them manually. Guards posted at parks will conduct frequent checks to ensure that the machines are being used in the right manner and not being tampered with, he added. Parks that will have the gym equipment include those in sectors 12, 19, 23, 33, 34, 35, 36, 39, 40, 44, 46, 47, 48, 50, 51, 52, 54, 55, 56, 61, 62, 70, 93A, 105, 108, 119, 122 and Mansorover Park.
